Starting Point: NextGear’s current solutions

The client I redesigned for is NextGear, one of the most popular financing tools for car dealerships. From the view of NextGear administrators, they are able to issue financing to the dealerships, plan cash flow, and monitor how the dealerships are doing.

By interviewing the client representatives, I came to conclusion that NextGear’s biggest pain point is not having an effective way to control the unsold cars at the dealerships, which technically belong to NextGear. Some cars were put into too much use before being sold out; some cars are sitting for too long on lot, and the value decreased a lot.

Solutions to the problem

The most feasible and viable solution to this problem is to add an additional hardware which is connected to the cloud onto the cars, so that NextGear’s admins know where the car has been to, and if the dealership has put too much mileage on the car. The admins also will get insights on what dealerships are reliable, and how much more credit should be given to them.

NextGear admins might be working in house, or going into dealerships to audit the credit. So the web portal is designed in a way where the admins are able to easily navigate on desktop, and it can be conveniently translated into an ipad application.

Also to add more delight to the end users, I redefined the visuals based on NextGear branding, and brought the sense of technology and modernness to the current product, which exceeds our client’s expectations.
